Graduated Langham Scholar Hikmat Kashouh has written a book, recently published by a Langham Literature imprint, called ‘Following Jesus in Turbulent Times’. He shares his inspirational testimony of coming to Christ during civil war in the Lebanon, along with his current ministry among Syrian refugees in his Church there. Please pray that many people will be inspired to serve their communities, especially those from different backgrounds after reading this book! Read more about Hikmat Kashouh.
Last month an annual gathering of Preaching Club members in Bolivia took place, with a focus on teaching the parables. Find out how the event went, and why it was “a joy” for Latin America Director Igor Amestegui. Pray for the attendees, that they will use what they learnt in their ministries across Bolivia. Pray for the national Langham Preaching team in Bolivia, as they encourage preachers to better communicate God’s Word.
Langham Scholar Anwar Berhe, who is from Ethiopia, is currently completing his PhD in Islamic Studies at the Melbourne School of Theology in Australia. Read the full article here. Please pray for:
- the impact of his studies – he hopes to be able to influence policymakers to consider how theological ideas, along with ethnicity and Muslim identity politics, can be the causes of conflict.
- Anwar’s future ministry: this will mainly involve teaching and training, writing literature, research, and personal engagement with Muslim communities.
- peace in Ethiopia, where there have been recent tensions.
- Anwar and his family as they prepare to return to Ethiopia soon.
We’d like to invite you to a special ‘Vision Day’ at All Souls, Langham Place in London on Saturday 2 February 2019. It’s our opportunity to thank our supporters, and share the latest news and vision for Langham’s exciting work. Langham Partnership’s International Ministries Director Chris Wright will speak, alongside representatives from all three programmes. If you would like to attend, please book online or email Simon Foulds: firstname.lastname@example.org. Please pray that the Vision Day will encourage attendees and increase support for Langham’s work around the world.
A prayer to use in your church service, prayer meeting, home group or individually:
Heavenly Father, we thank you for the work of Langham Partnership around the world. We pray for Hikmat Kashouh’s new book. We pray that many people will be encouraged to welcome outsiders and share Jesus’ love with them as a result of reading this book. Thankyou merciful God for the successful training event in Bolivia last month. We pray for preachers in that country to put into practice what they learnt and communicate God’s Word faithfully. And finally, please strengthen Langham Scholar Anwar Berhe as he completes his PhD and returns to Ethiopia. We pray his studies will impact lawmakers for good and that you will bless his future ministry to Muslims.
In your precious son Jesus Christ’s name,
Amen.Langham Literature, Langham Preaching, Langham Scholars, LPUKI, Prayer, Prayer Guide
