Last month, over 50 people attended Langham Preaching training in Fiji. The courses were led by retired minister Stephen Williams, Revd Andy Shudall and others. Please pray that the attendees will return for the final level of training in 2020 – the dates have already been set! Pray also that the church in Fiji will grow in faithfulness to the Lord Jesus Christ.
When Dr Rolex Cailing returned to the Philippines after gaining his PhD, he knew he needed to be fully engaged with his community. And in 2013, in the wake of devastating Typhoon Haiyan, he put this into practice. At least 2,000 homeless people relocated to the province where Rolex and his family live. He created opportunities to help the displaced community and meet critical needs. He set up a feeding programme for children and taught parents how to recycle and make money from trash. He’s even started a church in the community. Through Rolex’s support and leadership, many of the resettled families found hope and are growing in their relationship with God.
Please pray for Rolex’ ministry among the displaced families in the Philippines. Pray also that current Langham Scholars will have the same transforming impact on their communities when they return to their home countries.
Imad Shehadeh is the author of Langham Global Library title ‘God With Us and Without Us, Volume 1’. He is a Palestinian Christian with a doctorate from Dallas Theological Seminary, Texas. After completing his studies in Dallas, he returned to Jordan where he founded the Jordan Evangelical Theological Seminary (JETS) in 1991, where Dr Shehadeh is currently the president. JETS graduates serve in several Arab countries as well as among Arab communities in several western countries as church and parachurch planters, pastors, teachers, writers, evangelists, worship leaders, women’s ministry leaders, and other varied ministries.
Please pray for Jordan Evangelical Theological Seminary, and especially Dr Imad Shehadeh to lead wisely in his role as president. Pray also for the wider work of Langham Literature, as it seeks to publish books by Majority World authors.
On Saturday, nearly 100 people gathered at All Souls, Langham Place in London for our Vision Day. Thank you for praying for this event, and if you came along, we hope you had a good time. We heard moving stories about our Preaching, Literature and Scholars programmes. The team at All Souls provided a lovely lunch for all attendees, and we were able to sing praise to God thanks to the church’s worship group. Audio recordings of all the talks will be available soon.
A prayer to use in your church service, prayer meeting, home group or individually:
We praise you gracious Father for being with us at the Vision Day on Saturday. We pray that many people will be inspired to support Langham as a result of the day.
We pray for those who attended Langham Preaching training in Fiji recently. Help them to grow in faithfulness to you. We pray that they will all attend the final level of training next year.
Please bless the important ministry of Dr Rolex Cailing in the Philippines. We pray that all Langham Scholars will have a transforming impact on their communities when they return home.
We lift to you Langham author Imad Shehadeh. Help him to lead his seminary wisely, and we pray that many people will read and be challenged by his latest book.
In your precious son Jesus Christ’s name,
