Give thanks for the life and work of Frances Whitehead
On Saturday 1 June Frances Whitehead, John Stott’s secretary of nearly 60 years, died peacefully at home at the age of 94.
Frances served John Stott throughout his whole ministry, as Rector of All Souls, Langham Place, and then in his wider global ministry.
For years, they coped with an average of 30 letters a day! And in the midst of it all, she typed up manuscripts for almost all of his books, from his handwriting.
Frances was a phenomenal woman, in a unique partnership that, by God’s grace and enabling, served the global church in multiple ways.
Do join us in giving thanks to God for Frances. Our International Ministries Director Chris Wright has said that though John Stott is counted as the founder of Langham, the organisation is part of Frances Whitehead’s legacy too.

Pray for Tina*, a Langham Preaching trainer in Central Asia
Langham works in parts of the world where there are security issues for Christians. One of our Langham Preaching trainers, who works in such a country in Central Asia, shared her fascinating life story. Tina* grew up in an atheist society and when she became a Christian was liberated from occult influences. Read her testimony online.
Please pray for Tina* in her role at a Bible College overseeing the academic programmes. Pray also for Tina* as she facilitates Langham Preaching events in Central Asia.
*Name has been changed for security reasons.
Thank you for praying for South Sudanese students in Uganda
In October last year, we asked you to pray for students at a Langham Literature member college, who were forced to flee South Sudan to Uganda and even built their own classroom to continue their studies.
Thank you for praying – 20 South Sudanese church leaders completed their training at Bishop Alison Theological College (BATC) in December and are now serving congregations in refugee camps.
Being a Langham Literature member college means BATC is able to apply for a Library Grant to receive free evangelical resources.
Please pray that many other Majority World colleges will make the most of this extremely helpful scheme.
Pray for Langham Scholar Dr Sergio Mijangos, training counsellors in Guatemala
Langham Scholar Dr Sergio Mijangos leads a counselling Masters programme at a Bible College in Guatemala, where his wife Linda also works as a counsellor. Mental health is an urgent concern in Guatemala, where many suffer from post-traumatic stress, depression, anxiety, and alcoholism as a result of the country’s 36 years of civil war and ongoing violence.
Please pray for Dr Sergio and Linda, as they train counsellors to reach the most vulnerable in their society. Pray also for their son Christian, who has a serious medical problem with his pancreas.

Also please email if you would like hard copies of the Spring 2019 edition for yourself or your church.
Langham receptions at the Keswick Convention
This year, Langham Partnership has a stand at ‘Base Camp’, the global mission exhibition. We are also holding Langham receptions at an Indian restaurant in Keswick during Weeks 1 & 2 of the convention. Please praythat many people will be made aware of Langham for the first time, and that supporters will be encouraged by hearing about our global impact. If you are attending the Keswick Convention, book a place at one of our receptions. We’d love to see you there!
A prayer to use in your church service, prayer meeting, home group or individually:
We praise you for the life, work and legacy of our sister Frances Whitehead. Please comfort her friends and family at this time, and we pray for your blessing on the thanksgiving service later this month.
Lord of the nations, we pray for Tina* as she works and serves in Central Asia. Help her to draw strength from you, and help her as she facilitates Langham Preaching training there.
Thank you, Heavenly Father, for being with the Bible College students from South Sudan who built their own classroom in Uganda. We pray for their ministry to South Sudanese refugee camps. We also pray that more Majority World colleges will use Langham Literature’s scheme to receive free evangelical resources.
God of all comfort, we pray for Langham Scholar Dr Sergio Mijangos as he trains counsellors to reach vulnerable people in his country of Guatemala.
Finally Lord, we pray for Langham’s stand at the Keswick Convention, that many new people will support Langham’s work around the world.
In your precious son Jesus Christ’s name,
