Langham Scholar and author Dr Yohanna Katanacho lives and works in Israel. His Langham Literature book ‘Praying Through the Psalms’ was recently published. It contemplates each Psalm for a Middle Eastern context, expressing a theology of tears and hope amid oppression and violence. Please pray that this book will bless readers around the world.
He also asked us to pray:
- For the spread of justice and equality for all citizens of Israel.
- For Langham Literature’s Arabic Contemporary Commentary. Yohanna was one of the main editors of the Old Testament and contributed commentaries on three books. Pray that this resource will be a blessing to Arab speakers around the world.
Earlier this year, 30 people began Langham Preaching training in Mongolia. The church there is young, having been reborn after the democratic revolution in 1990. In this context, Langham Preaching is working to establish strong foundations for the future. They are encouraging confidence in God’s Word.
Please pray for:
- the attendees of the training earlier this year. Pray they’ll continue to attend Preaching Clubs throughout the year.
- the translation of the Bible into Mongolian.
Praise God for the Arabic Contemporary Commentary
Last month, Langham Literature’s Arabic Contemporary Commentary was launched. This project has faced many setbacks due to unrest in the Middle East, taking over ten years to complete. It is the first commentary of its kind on the whole Bible, written by Arab theologians, for Arab-speaking churches.
A small number of advanced copies have been printed, with 10,000 copies arriving in Egypt this month.
Give thanks to God for this landmark commentary, and pray for a wide distribution of this resource across the Middle East and North Africa.
