One trained pastor can make the Word come alive

Equipped with tools to preach God’s Word clearly, faithfully and relevantly, pastors like Basim in a sensitive, Muslim-majority country see new hope for their communities. After attending Langham’s training, Basim said, “The light I have gotten, the light God has shown me, I want to show others also. ”

A preacher trained by Langham will pass on the skills they learned to at least 60 others, on average. That’s the power of one.

One equipped scholar can lead their nation to Christ

Equipped with a PhD in theology, Seble uses her powerful platform to speak out against female genital mutilation and other harmful traditional practices—and equips others to do the same. Confident that the Bible speaks to all of life, her students warn against false teachings, tackle the questions of the upcoming generation and start ministries to transform their communities by God’s Word.

A church leader equipped with the strong theological foundation of a PhD will teach 9,478 students over the course of their career.

Corruption, war, violence, instability, and economic downturns. These are just some of the crises affecting countries across my continent, Africa.

In these areas of great poverty, pressure, yet huge potential – what is the answer?

I believe it’s the local Church.

As the Word is preached, lives are changed, communities are transformed. I’m the Associate Director for Langham Preaching in Africa, and we work hard to train local leaders to preach the Bible faithfully.

Local leaders truly understand the issues their fellowships and their countries are facing. That’s why we are passionately committed to equipping indigenous pastors and church leaders with the training they need to preach with clarity, conviction, and faithfulness.

Last year, we equipped over 5,000 pastors and lay leaders in 24 African nations. This year, we want to reach more pastors, strengthen more churches, and see more communities across Africa come alive with the hope and truth of the Gospel.

According to independent statistics*, after Langham Preaching training, 82% of congregants find sermons easier to understand, and preachers’ use of proper Bible study skills triples.

And 91% of those who complete all three levels of Langham Preaching training go on to train 61 others!

So, if 500 more people across Africa receive vital training, that could result in nearly 30,000 more people learning to preach God’s word clearly, faithfully and relevantly.

In Argentina, the Wichí people are isolated and still semi-nomadic. The Latin American Bible Commentary travels with them. It’s a tool that helps Wichí pastors like Olíva and Silas study and preach the whole Bible in a way that is relevant to their community’s culture and lives. Thirteen more of these ground-breaking commentary projects are underway around the world.
