We just managed to squeeze in our Vision Day at All Souls, London in early March, but all other supporter events planned for the year had to be put on hold whilst the world adjusted to the reality of Covid-19.
Like many organisations, Langham have had to rethink how we do some things and so out of the enforced lockdown ‘Langham Live’ was born.
Staying Connected
We wanted to keep in touch with our supporters, to let you know the most pressing prayer needs and stay connected, even though we could not physically be together. Whilst our monthly Prayer Guide and eNews are great sources of information, we did not want to lose the personal connection that comes from meeting face-to-face.
‘Langham Live’ prayer meetings are now held each month (usually the 4th Thursday and Friday) and these are a great opportunity for people to gather together via Zoom and pray for one another. It has been a real blessing to chat to folk from around the world and across different time zones. It is lovely to put faces to names and a real joy to see people connect. We can all suffer from Zoom fatigue at times, but seeing real delight on faces during these prayer times is a great tonic.
Imagination required…
Our first Langham Live webinar was held at the end of July. We should have been in Keswick in the Lake District at the annual bible convention, but this was forced to go on-line and so we moved our physical reception to a ‘virtual’ one. We were joined by Chris Wright, International Ministries Director and well-known author and speaker, and also Rico Villanueva, Langham Scholar Care Co-ordinator for Asia and author and also speaker for one of the morning seminars at Keswick.
Of course, the benefit of having a virtual reception is that people could join us from wherever they were, not just in Keswick. So supporters from France, Indonesia, America, Uganda and Kenya were all present. They may have needed to use their imagination to conjure up the beautiful Lake District scenery, but at least everyone was warm and dry!
We have a new dedicated Langham Live page on our website and details of coming events can be found there.
If you would like to get on the ‘invitation list’ for these events then please visit the ‘Get Involved’ page of our website and sign up for our eNews or Prayer Guide. We look forward to welcoming you to a future event.
