Langham Scholar Beatrice Ang is studying for a PhD at Edinburgh University having heard God’s call to full-time ministry at just ten years old. She hopes her research and future ministry “will contribute to refining the way preachers think about the Church’s role in society”.
On completion of her studies, Beatrice plans to return to the International Graduate School of Leadership (IGSL) Philippines, in the Biblical Studies and Theological Studies Departments, where she has been teaching courses. She will also work with the Asia Graduate School of Theology. The leaders at IGSL are looking to handover to younger staff.
In September, Scholar Care Coordinator Liz McGregor interviewed Beatrice during the Langham Partnership UKI ‘Vision Day’ in Edinburgh.
Journey to Edinburgh
Watch this short video, where Beatrice shares her journey from hearing God’s call as a 10-year-old, to travelling across the world to study in Scotland.
Beatrice explains that she chose to study in Edinburgh in order to build bridges between the East and West, as she discovered that Filipino teenagers are being ‘discipled’ by people all over the world through social media.
One of Beatrice’s greatest challenge as a Scholar is time management, as her course is very busy and she feels under pressure to complete her PhD on time. Please pray that Beatrice will take time to rest, and to grow spiritually during her time in Edinburgh.
