Trip of Lifetime to Egypt with Langham Partnership

Friday 25th October to Monday 4th November 2024

Langham is hosting an experience of a lifetime to Egypt to visit the ancient cultures of Cairo, Alexandria, Luxor and Aswan. We aim:

  • To enjoy the visit and experience of a lifetime in style with great company
  • To better understand the biblical landscape, culture and significance
  • To introduce Langham’s Middle East and North Africa ministry and key personnel


The cost is GBP £2,500* per person in a double cabin (supplement of £400 for a single room) with a deposit of only £200 pp to secure your place.

DAY 1:
Those arriving at Cairo airport, meet and assistance, transfer to hotel. Overnight in Cairo.

DAY 2:
Visit Sakkara & the step pyramids. Visit the three Pyramids of Giza, the Pyramid of Cheops is the oldest of the Seven Wonders of the Ancient World, and the only one to remain largely intact. The temple of the valley & the Sphinx.

DAY 3:
The Archaeological Museum in Cairo. It houses the world’s largest collection of Pharaonic antiquities including the famous collection of treasures of Tutankhamen. Visit Mokattam Hills churches (in the garbage dump!).

DAY 4:
Visit Coptic Cairo. Visiting the Church of St. Sergius (Abu Sarga), dating back to the 5th century A.D. and the Hanging Church, due to its location above a gatehouse of Babylon Fortress. After lunch a walking tour in Muizz street, one of the oldest streets in Cairo, stretching from Bab AlFutuh in the north to Bab Zuweila in the south.

DAY 5:
Day-return trip, desert road to Alexandria. Visit the Catacombs of Kom El Shokafa; see aspects of the Pharaonic funeral cult and Hellenistic and Imperial Roman influences. Visit the Graeco-Roman Museum (just reopened after 18 years refurb) and Bibliotheca Alexandrina.

DAY 6:
Fly to Luxor. Visit Karnak and Luxor temples, the main place of worship of the 18th Dynasty (Theban triad: Amun, Mut and Khonsu). Visit Luxor Museum for a glimpse of Old and New Kingdoms. Join the cruise and overnight on board.

DAY 7:
Visit Valley of the Kings, Habou temple, and Ramesses lll Mortuary Temple. Start sailing toward Esna to cross the lock. Continue sailing to Edfo. Overnight on board.

DAY 8:
Visit Edfo Temple (best preserved in Egypt?) dedicated to the god Horus. Sailing to Kom Ombo to visit the temple of Kom Ombo, dedicated to the crocodile god, Sobek. Overnight on board.

DAY 9:
Visit the Ptolemaic Philae temple dedicated to Isis, on Lake Nasser (subject of UNESCO project), and journey in a motorboat around Aswan’s islands & botanical garden. Overnight on board.

DAY 10:
Disembarkation, visit the Nubian museum covering geology, Pharaonic, Roman, Coptic and Islamic periods. Fly back to Cairo.

DAY 11:
Departure from Cairo for home.
